O Rastro do Tempo / The Trail of Time

Time is a skilled warrior. Runs through the fingers, escapes the most subtle traps and launches itself in all directions. Confiscates treasures, overshadow beauties, undoes passions and muddies the reflection of souls. Time, all powerful lord of existence, has in its favor the other’s finitude; who can face it? Time is now more ruthless and paradoxically more "scarce": gains wings and flies in accelarated rythm in the skies of large metropoles. Those who seek to dominate it, become its prisioners. The paraphernalia created in recent centuries as an attempt of calculating the time to measure distances; to stock it, to retard it, to make it flexible and to frame it, is vain. The technological revolutions and the society of information did not diminish the men’s anguish trapped on its web and eager to conquer it through networks of complex connections. The truth is that the man can not handle the time satisfactorily. The ‘lack of time’ is one of the biggest synthoms of the collapse of a civilization that moves forward without knowing why and where, in a race doomed to failure. This is us.
